I have a six year old who is OBSESSED with Star Wars. He has never seen even one 'episode' (movie) and knows practically everything about them from the limited knowledge I have of the episodes IV, V & VI. Then little guys in his class in school have filled him in on I, II and III.
He was running around one day humming the opening credits music for Star Wars. He stopped and asked me what the words to the song were. I said there wasn't any. I told him it was just music that plays... he didn't buy that. He said there had to have music to go with the movie... so I made up some words.
.
"Star Wars...
It was a BIG war,
It was a BAD war,
It was Star Wars!!!!"
.
Sing it to the timing of the opening credits music... it fits.
.
.
Ummmm, k. He went on his merry way.
My four year old sings this song every day... she'll be playing in the playroom and I'll hear her sing the lyrics softly while she is playing. Very cute. I smile. My made up song is catchy...
.
Then the Tank comes home from school today.
.
.
Angry.
.
.
He apparently was singing his little tune on the playground and the Star Wars "experts" that are his classmates informed him that was NOT how the song goes. They went on to say there are NO words to the Star Wars song.
.
(Ummmm, I tried to tell him this originally, but what do I know... I'm just a Mom that has only seen IV, V and VI)
.
He was NOT happy with me. So he overheard his little sister singing the song and said, "Mom is just a liar (Tiny-T). She made up that song and it isn't true."
.
So there you have it.
My credibility and knowledge of all things Star Wars is now null and void.
But admit it... you're gonna be singing my words to this tune now.

LOL. Gotta love being a Mom. And yes, I will so be singing it next time I watch Star Wars! LOL
As I read this, my two nephews are in the front room playing their most favorite video game on the planet...Lego Star Wars. They are obsessed with Star Wars too!
Totally fits! I liked it, too funny.
Hey--you could sell those lyrics to George Lucas!!! I think they make the song much better. (At least much more fun!) I'm impressed even if Tank isn't.
